Abstract:
Both the theory of horizonfusion in philosophical hermeneutics and the view of historical comparison are premised on the opposition between commonness and difference, and the unity between commonness and difference is the objective of cognition. Not only does this unity contain by diversity, but it also contains universality as trends and selfrequirements on its way of development, which is to demonstrate the universal connections via comparisons and constant interpretations, the purpose of which is to form a more extensive and indepth cognition and understanding, and the result of which is to achieve an understanding of historical laws. Merely stressing the historicity and diversity of interpretation, the horizonfusion theory fails to reveal the universal connections of interpretation, let alone summarize the laws in the universal connections. The fundamental reason lies in its failure to view and interpret the world from the perspective of dialectical materialism, and its failure to deepen and develop the outcomes of fusion from the perspective of authentic social and historical practice. Therefore, the integration of the theories of horizonfusion and historical comparison helps to find not only the progress contained in the conception of horizonfusion, but also the historical limitations of interpretation, thus to provide important theoretical references to historical comparison.Hence, it is of great significance to integrate the theories of horizonfusion and historical comparison under the guidance of dialectical materialism in terms of the further development of historical comparison.
