Abstract:
The paper reviews the study process of Chinese Phonology of the past 70 years since the founding of New China, and divides it into four stages: the adjustment period of Chinese Phonology(1949—1966), the stasis period of Chinese Phonology(1967—1976), the development period of Chinese Phonology(1977—1999), and the brilliant period of Chinese Phonology(2000—2019). Based on the content of research in these different periods, the studies are classified and commented on. For example, the development period is divided into seven aspects: general theory and teaching materials of Chinese Phonology, study on Archaic Chinese Phonology, study on Middle Chinese Phonology, study on RhymeTables, study on Phonetic Contrast, study on the rhyme of poetry, and study on Modern Chinese Phonetic.The brilliant period is divided into five aspects: study on Archaic Chinese Phonology, study on Middle Chinese Phonology, study on Modern Chinese Phonetic, teaching materials of Chinese Phonetics, dialect rhyme and the phonological history of dialect. In the past 70 years, the Chinese Phonology studies have shown a vibrant and colorful situation: the research team of Chinese Phonology studies have continuously grown, the research field has been expanded, the research data are extremely rich, the research methods are increasingly diverse, and the research results are remarkable.
