Abstract:
The Ways of Governing the State(Zhibang zhidao治邦之道) manuscript from the Tsinghua University Collection discusses the question of how to rule the state. As there are some ideas similar to those of the Mohist School, the research group of Tsinghua manuscripts argued that it belongs to the Mohist School. However, the ideas similar to the Mohist School, like the exalting of the virtuous, reducing expenses, universal love and frugal funerals, were also dicsussed by other philosophers. We can not define its character through these ideas.IN other resects, some ideas about ritual and the mandate of heaven are quite different from the Mohist School. Therefore, it does not belong to the Mohist School. It contains ideas from different schools in the Warring Statesperiod. In general, it is closer to the Confucian school.
