Abstract:
By using some recordings of the earlier edition of the Tibetan historical book Sba Bzhed, ancient Tibetan documents in Dunhuang during the Tang Dynasty, ancient Tibetan documents on wooden tablets discovered in Xinjiang and some relevant recordings about the Bon religion in Chinese documents, this paper mainly discusses and analyzes the early historical division of Bon religion, the definition, connotation, faith groups, prevailing area of Bon religion and the outstanding features of conflicting between Buddhism and bon po in the Tubo period, meanwhile presenting some new related views.
