Abstract:
While scholars evaluated the poetry in the Tang Zhen’guan years, they always spoke highly of Wei Zheng’s opinions about the mixture of the north and south culture, which was presented in the Literary Biographer of Sui Book. Actually, Wei Zheng’s opinions was against the facts, and the Northern Dynasties’ poetry achievements were not comparable with the South. Emperor Taizong had to learn from the poem style of Qi and Liang Dynasties, or Chen and Sui Dynasties in his poetry creation. What’s more, Emperor Taizong appreciated the art and culture of the Southern Dynasties, and treasured scholars which came from those areas. He had a just attitude on the south culture and benefited from it in his creation. Emperor Taizong’s theory and creative practice is of significance in poetry history, which set a good example for them to transform the poem style of Qi and Liang Dynasties into a new style of Tang Dynasty.
