Abstract:
In the West and East Han Dynasties, Qiuci County enjoyed an important political and military place. However, owing to incomplete and brief records in historical works, the academic world does not agree on the current location of the site of Qiuci in history. All disputes can be summarized mainly into the following three views: the ancient town of Guchengtan in Yuyang District of Yulin City, the proximity of Shangyanwan of Zhenchuan town in Yuyang District, and the proximity of Galutu town (the former Dabu Chake town) in Uxin Banner. According to the relevant records of “the Diyuan River”, “the Hei River”, “the Jiaolan River” and “the Zhuci River” in Shui Jing Zhu, and “the Salt Ponds of Qiuci” in The History of the Later Han Dynasty, this study determines, by referring to the archaeological results of relics and materials of field works, that the ancient town of Aobai Naoer of Galutu town in Uxin Banner should be the very location of the site of Qiuci County in history.
