The Zhengguo Canal, which was built in the late days of the Warring Kingdoms, was a milestone in the history of irrigation construction in the Guanzhong Plains. During the Han and the Tang Dynasty, the irrigation in Guanzhong gained a wholesome development, shaping a network system characteristic of gravityirrigation. After the Song and the Yuan Dynasty, the irrigation in the region assumed a tendency of decline due to effects of natural and human elements, but there were still advantages to be mentioned. In a word, the historical experience and lessons in the irrigation construction in Guanzhong are of great significance of reference to the present.
