“格义”传译的发生机制:一种“文化形态学”视角

摘要:
格义是对印度佛教概念进行儒道学说比附而凝结的一个译学方法,它在异文化之间的传译上具有世界性的启示意义。学界对该法的来龙去脉有较多的论述,但对格义发生机制的研究则寥寥无几。格义可以追溯至原始人初识世界事物的“类比”方法。格义传译的理据是:他者文化是本己文化的陌生化变形;格义传译的方法是:异文化中同构项/同功项的寻求与想像;格义传译的功效是:对他者文化的“可接受缺形”创想。

Generating Mechanism of Interpreting “Cultural Implication”in Terms of “Cultural Morphology”

Abstract:
Cultural implication interpretation is a method of translation, which is applied in comparing concepts in Indian Buddhism to Confucian and Taoist understandings. This method is of global enlightenment in interpretation between different cultures. The academia has numerous studies about the history of the method, but few studies are made to explore the generating mechanism of cultural implication interpretation. In fact, cultural implication interpretation goes back to the practice of analogy used by early primitive people in knowing things in the world. Based on the preposition that other cultures are the strange deforms of our own culture, cultural implication interpretation follows the method of seeking and imagining the item of the same function for the item of the same structure to create an idea for “acceptable absence” in other cultures.
