Abstract:
The Huiji Bridge around Zhengzhou is one of the new archaeological discoveries in the part of the Tongji Trench of the Great Canal in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, and with the former an old northsouth river-way the bridge crossed was discovered too. The Huiji Bridge and the old riverway were taken as the old watercourse of the Tongji Trench on the Great Canal in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. According to the mutual confirmation of historical documents, archaeological discoveries and local investigation, the Huiji Bridge and the northsouth riverway it crossed are of significant value of research to the distribution pattern of water transportation at the crosses of the Yellow River, the Huai River and the Hai River, and the relations between water systems of these rivers.
