Abstract:
In constructing his own aesthetic theory, Mou Zongsan cruelly criticized kant, thinking kant’s discussion of beauty appreciation based on teleology was a means of offcenterness against the original line of “internal integrity”. This criticism of his certainly held water in terms of Confucianism, which discussed beauty appreciation without any initial purpose. In kant’s theoretical system, however, it didn’t for kant said so according to his selfestablished theoretical system. Therefore, Mou’s criticism of kant’s “offcenterness” didn’t conform to the theoretical basis of kant’s aesthetic theory. Further discussion is desirable about the accuracy of his understanding of Critique of Judgment.
