Abstract:
Du Fu used to live in Shaanxi as long as 13 years from 746, the 5th year of the Imperial Title of Tianbao of Emperor Xuanzong to 758, the 1st year of the Imperial Title of Qianyuan of Emperor Suzong when he was banished to the state of Hua. During this time, Du Fu lived in Duqu south of the city of Chang’an for most of his time, where he remained as lon as ten years. The structure, constructive elements and layout features of his former residence can be recovered just by ascertaining the position of his premises, reasons for his choice of the location and the poems he wrote there. The reality of Du’s life in the south of the city and large numbers of realistic poems he wrote there significantly influenced Du Fu himself as a patriotic poet.
