Abstract:
Zhu Xi didn’t just repeat Mencius’s instructions in The Collection of Notes to Meng Zi, but interpreted and developed his theory. He expressed his position in the view of the mind and stated his understanding of philosophy of the mind throughout the work, a classic of Zhu’s philosophy of the mind. Mr. Mou Zongsan thinks The Collection of Notes to Meng Zi apparently followed Gao Zi and Xun Zi’s theory but essentially stated his thorough understanding of Mencius’s philosophy. This is a misunderstanding and distortion of Zhu Xi’s thought.
