Abstract:
According to the records in The Bamboo Chronicles and other sources, King of Yu founded his capital in the town of Yang. However, the position of King of Yu’s capital should be not in the town of Gaocheng of Dengfeng City, Henan Province, but in southern Hancheng City, Shaanxi Province, which was renamed as Xiayang in the 11th of the Royal Title of King of Hui of the Qin Kingdom. The Records of Residence in the Royal Genealogy said “King of Yu founded his capital in the town of Yang, situated south of Daliang”. The “Daliang” mentioned in the text should not refer to the “Daliang” as the capital of the Kingdom of Wei (what is now within the current Kaifeng City), but to Mount Liang by which King of Yu tamed the water, that is, what is now called the Huanglong Mountains in Hancheng City, Shaanxi Province. This conclusion is reached and supported by reliable investigations of historical materials and results of field work.
