Abstract:
A chronological view of the historical course of the eastern spread of Indian Buddhism discovers that Buddhist theory and practice went through prominent changes. These changes carried just the process of conflict, adaptation and fusion between Buddhism and local culture. Buddhist education of Confucian ethics in ancient and middle times played an essential role, and the key part of this education was teaching of fidelity and filial piety and teaching of benevolence and doing goodness. This education saw its influence in Chinesization of Indian Buddhism and compensation for lack of ethic culture in traditional Confucianism.
