Abstract:
The professional doctorate in International Chinese Education under the category of Education has been officially established. Discussion on the fields and directions of the professional doctorate in International Chinese Education will provide guidance for declaration of professional doctorate authorization points and talent training. At present, there are 3 main types of doctoral training in International Chinese Education and related majors: first, academic doctoral training by setting up research directions under the secondlevel disciplines, mainly focus on the researches related to Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language in China; second, academic doctoral training by independently setting up secondlevel disciplines under the firstlevel disciplines,mainly focus on the researches related to Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from a global perspective; third, professional doctoral training by setting up field under Doctor of Education, and no research direction has been distinguished under this field. The fields and directions set by other professional doctorates under the category of Education are oriented to the needs of the industry, the number of fields is not limited, the research directions are detailed, and the cultivation of characteristic talents is explored. Therefore, guided by national strategy, career needs, and integration of academic and professional perspectives, 8 fields and 19 directions can be chosen to set under the professional doctorate in International Chinese Education: International Chinese Curriculum and Teaching, International Chinese Teacher Education, International Chinese Teaching Resources, etc.
