Abstract:
Media Ecology endeavors to explore the intricate relationships among media, individuals, and society, encompassing a diverse and multidisciplinary research domain. Within this rich landscape, the convergence of various perspectives within media ecology holds the potential for fruitful discoveries and interdisciplinary integration. While media ecology encompasses a plurality of research viewpoints, a closer examination of its intellectual origins and methodological approaches reveals four primary research trajectories: sociology, ecology, philosophy, and linguistics. These four prominent trajectories serve as the foundational pillars that have guided the development and evolution of media ecology. By drawing upon the theoretical frameworks offered by these disciplines, media ecology continually expands its knowledge base, providing a comprehensive philosophical, historical, and practical context for investigating the increasingly technologized and mediacentric nature of contemporary society.
