Abstract:
Chinese modern archaeology has achieved splendid achievements, especially the research on ancient capitals archaeological excavations. There are forty archaeological programs including 23 ancient capital sites and 17 ancient city sites which are elected as “One Hundred Major Archaeological Findings for One Hundred Years”sponsored by the Chinese Society of Archaeology and China’s Cultural Relics News. It indicates that Chinese ancient capitals and similar capital sites played important roles in Chinese history, and also indicates that the excavations of these sites occupy important positions among the development of Chinese archaeology. So Chinese ancient capital research should continue to cooperate with Chinese archaeology to launch the intensive, tracing and pioneering researches on those capitals of principal dynasties,on the settlements and sites of Neolithic Times, and on the borderland capitals in order to promote the theoretical development and the deeper expounding construction of the field of Chinese ancient capitals.
